Images lie in shoeboxes,
stuffed in closets and under
unmade beds, souvenirs
of what was and what will
never be again.

These are treasured memories,
typical days gone by that have
eclipsed actual time, enhanced
by naivety and wishful thinking
so that only pleasantries remain.

I resurrect them with
carefully chosen words,
convert snapshots from neglected
mementos to everyday reminders.
Pictures plead with me to tell a story.

About cjchaffin

Wordsmithing is my passion. I eat, sleep, and breathe words and phrases, only to regurgitate them and pray that they are better off than when I first ingested them.
